I began to look into different battery sizes and technology to see if any better solution is out there one hack is the Diode in the coils and I just dont like that Idea, the other is the Accu-cell which is basically a diode on a brass cap between the ground side and strap. So to me it seems that these 1.55v cells are just too much for these older units.

I have Several at the moment that I am working on, one is an N6 code with a 218 movement now supposedly the 1.55v is supposed to be ok in these.īUT this one seems to run on time but after 24 hours its waaaaay off. I recently got the bug and got into watches and of course adding Accutrons to the collection is a no brainer. I know I am dragging up an old dog here but this is the topic I am looking to add onto. Even those 2 had to be adjusted all the way to slow the movement down and it still ran fast. There are many websites about the topic and people who offer services to alter the movements to take the newer cells, I personally prefer to seek out the correct cells. Although some bulova literature says 1.55v is okay, the overwhelming popular oppinion and what I have personally seen also is that 1.55v cells make them run fast. The higher voltage will also wear out parts faster. If you can use a 1.55v battery and get decent results, it's because of the watch is most likely grossly out of regualtion to begin with.
